As you can see from the photographs

the wood has been heavily pruned

for maximum productivity.

From a firewood point of view this is terrific

as it means the wood is particularly dense

and will burn and produce excellent

charcoal over a very long period.

The new Apple trees are shown in this

photograph on the right hand side - they are

now going to be grown exactly the same

way as Grapevines.

You can see the supports going in which will

mean a much more user friendly product

with better yields and accessibility.

With so many of our English Apple

Orchards being destroyed and ploughed

up for other uses - it is wonderful to see

a new Orchard starting.

This stunning fruit bowl is actually

an apple root which has been

hollowed out, sanded on the inside

and then finished with a coat of

varnish.

This particular one weighs 10 kilos

and at its' widest it is 16" (41cm)

by 11" (28cm) tall
