It is actually quite rare to see a Hazel Tree as such as they very rarely have a trunk due to their suitability for coppicing. However, if they are not coppiced they will eventually throw up a trunk which can reach a height of up to ten metres. |
All the nuts produced by the Hazel are totally edible - especially when they are covered in chocolate! The Common Hazel is probably the most famous and is closely followed by the Filbert. Turkey is the largest producer of these nuts with over 600,000 tonnes a year |

The Hazel Tree is deciduous and there are eighteen different species. These can be found all over the world from the Himalayas to Northern America and of course, England! |

Not only does the Hazel produce wonderful firewood and nuts but because of its' flexibility it is also extensively used for making hurdles, stakes and stunning garden furniture. |
