We started our business during the 1998
Boxing Day storms, which probably wasn't the best timing!
After many years working in the woods with wind-blown and damaged
trees, we realised that sources were beginning to dry-up and we needed
to find an alternative and constant supply of firewood.
We contacted several estates and forest managment companies with
a view to having a regular and sustainable supply of hardwood.
The majority of our wood now comes from Buccleuch and Queensberry
Estate and the Lowther Forestry Group.
Queensberry Estate:
Set amidst the magnificently designed landscape of Nithsdale, The
Queesberry Estate extends to around 120,00 acres of heather clad
hills, farmland and woodland.
The Estate provides some of the fienst sport, walking and other
recreation to be found in Southern Scotland.
Careful stewardship over the centuries by the Dukes of Buccleuch
and Queensberry has ensured an ecological and aesthetically pleasing
balance which makes the Queensberry Estate a very special place
to visit.
The tenderly managed woodlands and countryside have provided a
perfect habitat for wildlife and the clean water tumbling from
the Lowther Hills has ensured that the River Nith remains one of
Scotland's fienst salmon and sea trout rivers.
